Brazilian Iron Ore Export Revenues down by 10pct in July

Business News Americas reported that iron ore exports from Brazil generated revenue of USD 2.67 billion in July down 10.3% from USD 2.84 billion in the year ago period.
 
According to the latest figures from foreign trade department Secex, Brazil shipped 29.69 million tonne of iron ore abroad in July, 4.2% more than the 27.25 million tonne exported in July 2012. The average sale price decreased 14% to USD 89.8 per tonne from USD 104.3 per tonne. Iron ore has been Brazil's main export since 2000.
 
Export revenue from flat rolled steel products slipped 38.8% to USD 86.2 million as volumes sank 34.5% to 101,800 tonnes. The average sale price fell 6.6% to USD 847.3 per tonne.
 
Sales abroad of iron and semi manufactured steel products brought in USD 137.6 million in the seventh month of the year, a 55.6% drop YoY as volumes fell 48.6% to 267,500 tonnes and prices decreased 13.5% to USD 514.5 per tonne.
