Print[ferro-alloys.com] Shanxi Coal Chemical Group was building the project to produce 800,000 tons of calcium carbide per year. Until 15th, June, there had been 5 furnaces which could 320,000 tons of calcium carbide were put into production. So far they produced 900 tons per day. We learnt about that there would be one furnace to operate in 19th.June. Beside these 6 furnaces, there would be still 4 furnaces to produce in 2013. It is expected that they can implement 650,000 tons of production capacity at the end of this year.
A relevant principal said that in recent time there was no inventory and the sale also kept the common level. Nowadays the companies raised the ex-work price at RMB2850/mt in 14th, June.
According to the latest statistic, the production capacity of calcium carbide had surmounted 35 million tons in 2012. The average rate of operation was 55% in calcium carbide industry. Some enterprises were even lower than 50%. So the Shanxi Coal Chemical gradually started to operate, which would alleviate the nervous institution of calcium carbide supply in Shanxi province. However, it also would aggravate the overcapacity of calcium carbide in China from the long term.
