[Fellow]From March 2024 to February 2025, the Iran Alumina Company recorded a total production of 212,520 tonnes of alumina powder.

【Ferro-alloys.com】: According to the data revealed by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organisation (IMIDRO), the alumina powder production in Iran stood at 74,425 tonnes for March 21 to July 22 2025. Compared to the first four months of the previous Iranian Calendar year (1403), the amount closed at 76,885 tonnes, reflecting a 3.1 per cent fall Y-o-Y.

Iran’s alumina powder production

One of the main reasons for the YoY decrease can be attributed to the ongoing energy crisis.  Widespread electricity shortages triggered power outages, urging industries to curtail or suspend operations, directly impacting alumina output during the period.

From March 2024 to February 2025, the Iran Alumina Company recorded a total production of 212,520 tonnes of alumina powder.

Iran reported a 5 per cent increase in alumina powder production during the first eight months of March 20 2024, to November 20 2024 (1403), according to data from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organisation (IMIDRO). During this period, the country produced 159,416 tonnes of alumina powder, up from 152,293 tonnes in the same timeframe in 2023, reflecting steady growth in Iran’s aluminium value chain.

On the other hand, Iran’s primary aluminium production reached 552,185 tonnes during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2024 – February 18, 2025), supported by strong growth in bauxite and alumina output. The combined production came from the country’s four key producers like South Aluminum Company (SALCO), Iranian Aluminium Company (Iralco), Almahdi, and Iran Alumina, according to data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organisation (IMIDRO).

Despite this robust performance, the output marked a 5.16 per cent decline compared to the 582,200 tonnes recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal year. IMIDRO, a leading state-owned holding company in Iran’s mining sector, oversees eight major companies and 55 subsidiaries operating across aluminium, steel, copper, cement, and mineral extraction industries.

Commonly known as aluminium oxide, alumina is a white, odourless, and inert powder widely used in industrial ceramics. Renowned for its durability and thermal resistance, alumina plays a vital role across numerous sectors, from construction and fillers to abrasives and catalysts. In mechanical and plant engineering, alumina ceramics are particularly valued for their exceptional wear and corrosion resistance, making them a go-to material for high-stress environments.

The particle size distribution plays a crucial role in defining both the quality and application scope of alumina powder. As a result, any measuring instrument must be capable of accurately and consistently detecting variations in particle size to meet performance and quality standards.
