Recently, Russia's ELGA coal company and China's Fujian Air China ocean transportation company jointly established a joint venture to export more coking coal to China. After the project is put into operation, Russia's coal export to China is expected to nearly double to 63 million tons by 2023.
According to report, China is the world's largest coal buyer, importing 299.674 million tons of coal in 2019, 25% of which is owned by Australia. However, the Australian coal industry has gradually lost the favor of Chinese buyers due to the repeated occurrence of substandard product quality in recent years.
